The idea of group chatting is not new, it was conceived years ago and implemented effectively via Google Hangouts. Since Skype replaced Live Messenger as it’s default flagship communication manager, it was believed that the webcam focused client would support this feature to.
It did, however, for a cost. $8.99 per month or $4.99 for a day as a part of Skype’s “Premium Service”.
The demand for Microsoft to drop the fee has been a request which has aged in years, and it seems it took a change in leader ship in order for the change to happen.
Now, group chat is free. No charge made for you to connect to up to 10 other skype users on the Windows, Mac and Xbox One platforms. It is believed that this occured to work out the existing kinks of the system before expanding the software to other platforms, perhaps from the emerging PlayStation 4 and mobile markets.
Most likely it’s to take on Google.
Simply update Skype if you already have it, or download Skype to try out the feature.
