Marcus Scott V, hailing from Hinesville, Georgia, was drawn to basketball before he could even tie his own shoes. Starting at just three years old, what began as a hobby quickly evolved into an all-consuming passion that would define his life.
Scott V’s success has been undeniable, playing a pivotal role wherever he’s gone. As a freshman in 2015, he helped Jenkins High secure a State Championship, marking the start of an impressive journey.
After that standout season, he transferred to Brunswick High, where he immediately made an impact. Leading the team in games played, points, minutes, assists, and steals, and was the driving force behind their deep run, guiding them to a State finalist appearance in his junior year.
Scott V’s talent didn’t go unnoticed, earning him a Division 1 scholarship to the Air Force Academy Preparatory School. After a year there, he transferred to Savannah State University (SSU), where he wasted no time making an impact. In his freshman season, he averaged 40% from the field and beyond the arc, 83% at the free throw line. He had ten games scoring 20+ points and finished the season as SSU’s leader in points, field goals made, three-pointers made, and field goal percentage—a testament to his undeniable skill and leadership on the court.

Continuing to elevate his game in his sophomore season, starting in all 29 games for SSU. He averaged 13.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 37% from the field, 36% from three-point range, and 78% from the free-throw line. His defensive presence also shined, adding 26 steals to his stats. Once again, he led his team in points (379), field goals made (121), three-pointers made (80), and minutes played (29.8 per game), cementing his role on the team as one of the top performers on the court.
Scott V’s consistency and leadership were crucial in SSU’s triumph at the 2022 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship. His stellar play helped propel the team to a 76-62 victory over Benedict College. For his exceptional performance throughout the tournament, Scott V was named the Most Valuable Player, a well-deserved recognition of his pivotal role in securing the championship title for SSU.
Building on his success at SSU, Scott V made the decision to transfer to Central State University, believing the move would help him grow and evolve into a more dynamic player and a versatile combo threat on the court.
Scott V would establish himself as a leader at Central State, playing all 28 games of the season and averaging 32.5 minutes per game. He tallied 88 assists and scored a total of 392 points, bringing his career total to 1,198 points.
His outstanding performance earned him both SIAC and HBCU Player of the Week honours during week seven of the season. That week included pivotal victories over Morehouse (85-80) and Springhill (72-71), as Scott V notched his 1,000th career point. He averaged 23.7 points, 4.0 assists, and 4.7 rebounds while shooting an impressive 51% from the field and 65% from beyond the arc, showcasing his elite skills and undeniable impact on the court.
After missing the 2023-24 season with Northeastern State University due to injury, Scott V would join Fort Valley State University for the 2024-25 season.
His continued development as an elite shooter and leader was evident throughout the season. One of his most notable performances came on January 25, 2025, as he hit a game-winning buzzer-beater with just 12 seconds left in a thrilling 58-57 upset victory over Morehouse. That clutch shot to secure the win showed not only his scoring ability, but composure under pressure.

As well as, holds the record for made threes at SSU in a single season with 80 made.
