During his time as a professional footballer, Tony Vidmar was an unsung hero.
Fans of Rangers and Cardiff City, will say he was “consistent”, “reliable”, “versatile” and “committed”. Having spoken to Tony for just under two hours, we’ll add “humble”, “polite”, “knowledgeable” – a true gentleman (if you will) to the list of superlatives.
Tony’s journey from player to Coach of the Australia Under 17 squad is quite a remarkable one.
Listen in as Tony enlightens us with his account of experiences in Belgium and Holland as a youngster, life at Glasgow Rangers, his admiration for Lennie Lawrence, the reasons why he was unable to represent Australia at the 2006 World Cup and the difficulties facing youth development back home.
Tony Vidmar, ladies and gents. What a bloke.
