FNX Network sponsored basketball club The Brothers have defeated The Rebels 55-39 to advance to their 2nd consecutive grand final. The brothers will face off against the Poolwerx Hawks on Tuesday 12th March. The showdown should be a sell out and will have many fans wondering who will take the $5000 prize money.

Final moments in the semi-final.

In a tightly contested game Brothers showed a tremendous amount of courage by locking down defensively and coming out on top with a great win despite star guard Steve Azzi ruling himself out with a shoulder injury. With scores locked up at 22 in the first half, after trading baskets through most of the second half. With Brothers down by three points, Anwar Saidi knocked down a 3 pointer to lock it all up at 38-38. Tom Tamine, Will Chami and Alex Obeid took advantage of the Rebels turnovers with enterprising team offence going on a 17-1 run.

Nathan Tsoulos was instrumental on the boards as well as his defence. “ I am really happy with the way I played tonight I am just glad I came on time to help the boys get the win”

Alex Obeid who starred for the brothers with 17 rebounds and 12 points was quick to give his team mates a spray for their lack of defence. “I just got engaged and I am not losing this game because we deserve to be in the grand final”. The spray provided much spark as the Brothers turned the game around by allowing just 1 point in the last 8 minutes of the second half.

Tom Tamine was the star of the night with 21 points 7 assists and 12 rebounds despite losing his shoes before game time. “To be honest I am quite shocked the way I performed without my shoes, those shoes mean so much to me but to get a great win and be one step closer to a championship win is remarkable” said Tom.

William Chami who recently requested a release from his contract due to a desire to play overseas stated “I wanted to finish this season on a high, playing with these guys has been incredible. We have 1 more game to go so hopefully we can deliver the goods”.

Louie Mitri who returned from a 2 game suspension declined to comment but did say “Bro I’m back that’s all I have to say”.

Justin Saidi who set the record by not missing any games the last 2 seasons.

“I had no idea I had this record until it was announced. It is quite an honour, I better enjoy the moment now before I am not allowed to play again when I am married”
– Justin joked.

Jason Hachem celebrated with Captain Anwar Saidi, Anwar commented that Jason indeed promised drinks were on him no matter what win or lose. He will be shouting drinks for the Brothers club.
