Vow and Declare wins the Melbourne Cup 2019

Australian horse takes out the Race that stops a Nation

It’s the new Melbourne Cup after Danny O’Brien-trained Vow And Declare fights back to win the $8 million (AUD) Flemington Race on Tuesday.

Ridden by Craig Williams, who had never won the race in 16 tries, Vow And Declare led early and went home straight before kicking back to Master Of Truth, with Prince Of Arran finishing third again as he did last year.

O’Brien paid tribute to Williams ‘ ride because he didn’t know how his horse was going to lead the race and said that Williams ‘ decision was’ the winning move.’

While it was a win for Williams, it was another near loss for the world’s best jockey Frankie Dettori, who finished second in the race for the third time.
