So… here it is! The moment much like when the PowerBook G4 handed it’s reign over to the Intel MacBook Pro, is now as torch is handed to the world of ARM.

With up to 17 hours of wireless web browsing on one charge, you’ll be able to procrastinate in University or during conferences even longer! If you’re an avid world traveler it even claims to last 20 hours in video playback. With these numbers, if true, MacBook Pro delivers up to twice the battery life of the previous generation and the longest battery life ever on a Mac.

Other new features in the new 13-inch MacBook Pro include dual microphones for hopefully less tinny recordings and calls. The cameras are still 720p for some reason, but there is a claim that the M1 chip can clean up the image and keep things looking sharp… though this can also be done with a 1080p sensor, which would be nice.

I still maintain my stance that the Pro line should have the most amount of ports. At least a USB-A or full size HDMI port, come on! But alas, for those you still need to dive into the dongle jungle.
So how much will the increased battery life, Retina display, Magic Keyboard and 1.4-kilogram compact design cost you?
The new 13-inch MacBook Pro is available for the starting price of AUD $1,999 inc. GST (AUD $1,849 inc. GST for education).
