Darius Hawkins is a young, strong and physical defensive back out of Oklahoma City, Ok. Inspired to play by his brother, football has come naturally to Darius. Looking up to players such as Tyrann Mathieu, now he hopes his chance for the NFL will come through this April’s draft.

A star for the Fredrick A. Douglass High School football team out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Darius had a huge impact during his time there. Totalling 115 tackles, 88 of which were solo, and also came away with three inter and two fumble recoveries. At the end of the season, was rewarded for his efforts being named a Blue-Grey All American selectee at the end of his senior season.

Following Fredrick A.Douglass High School, Darius would go on to attend Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Community College for two years. Where he put in respectable performances and gained one interception and 41 total tackles with 21 of them being solo. Darius was a huge threat in defence during his career there, and was a major factor in his team winning the conference championship in 2017.

He would quickly garner up interest from University of Louisiana, South Alabama, North Dakota, Oklahoma State, Texas Christian, and Prairie View A&M.

Darius would go on to choose to join Prairie View A&M. However, his time was affected there as he would only get to play one full season with the other being cut short due to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic. He was still able to play a big role in his team’s defence, making 18 solo tackles, 34 tackles in total and a fumble recovery. Also helping his team win the State Fair Classic, an annual college football game between his Prairie View A&M University Panthers and the Grambling State University Tigers.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Darius decided to go home to University of Central Oklahoma. It felt good for him to be back in his home state, he gave them exactly what they wanted that season. He would go on to cause havoc for opposition offences, totalling 31 tackles, 23 solo tackles, one interception and five pass break ups.

Darius has since declared for the 2022 NFL Draft and has signed with sports agent William Miller from 2MSports. In preparation for his NFL Pro Day in March, Darius will use the next few months training in Tampa, FL at Cooper Sports Performance, which is founded by NFL veteran Chris Cooper, who spent time throughout his career at the Raiders, 49ers, Cowboys, Seahawks and Cardinals.

More of a calm and focused player on the field, however, brings everything he has to every play. Any team who picks up Darius Hawkins in this year’s NFL draft will be adding a skilful, physical DB to their defence. One that can play anywhere in the secondary, make plays, knows how to find the ball and can tackle extremely well in the open field.
