Good news for fans of House of Cards. There is more to come. Now with most having watched the latest season, Netflix has revealed a third season had been given the official green light before even the release of Season 2..
House of Cards received an early renewal, according to Netflix, and production is set to start shortly. The seemingly hit show (the stats of views is kept secret) was originally packaged as a two-season deal, though all involved have discussed happily about the show running longer. As a fan, I too share the optimism.
House of Cards was Netflix’s guinea pig in creating original series just over a year ago. This endeavor lead to others including the return of Arrested Development. Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos has said that the show has a natural path to third season and in fact could extend beyond even there.
The show’s first season grabbed nine Emmy nominations and four Golden Globe nominations. Robin Wright ended up winning a Golden Globe for her performance as Mrs. Underwood.
Kate Mara, Michael Kelly, Sakina Jaffrey and Constance Zimmer also star in the story of House Majority Whip Francis Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey, and his dramatic rise to power. The second season finds Frank and his wife Claire continuing their powerful yet endangered political life. It was released on Netflix on 14th of February, 2014.
I am delighted to know there will be more.
