Apple has announced alongside the new iPhone and iPhone 6S 6S Plus, Apple TV and iPad Pro; the new iPad mini.
Although it was mentioned at the event only briefly, it is quite impressive – in short it is a shrunken iPad Air 2, the star of last year – smaller but powerful.
Let’s be honest, the first iPad mini was basically an iPad 2 – just with significantly shrunken dimensions. Now instead of staying a leg behind the current Apple iPad Air 2, it aims to match it. However, it won’t get the A8X chip of the iPad Air 2 is used, but the A8 from the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. It is enough to accelerate performance by 30% to the previous iPad mini and increases the graphics performance by as much as 60%. Good if you’re an avid XCOM gamer.

The camera is now an 8-megapixel model upping itself from the former 5 megapixel lens. It is up to standard with AC WiFi replacing the old n-WLAN technology, Bluetooth 4.2 also makes an appearance. Compared to the iPad mini 3, the new iPad mini has become 18% percent narrower – 7.5mm shrunk to 6.1mm, it is now as thick as the iPad Air 2. The weight also fell sharply from 331 to 299 grams.
TL;DR: This thing is powerful, light and a lot of fun.
The iPad mini 4 is available in the colors silver, gold and Space Grey with storage capacities of 16 (sigh), 64 and 128 GB.
