[dropcaps style=’1′]During a discussion online it has been leaked by ‘a very inside player’ of the World Wrestling Entertainment promotion that CM Punk is to make a surprise (well, not so much anymore) return to the WWE on the Chicago, IL edition of Raw this Monday.[/dropcaps]
A hometown return, nice.
Since Punk’s shocking exit, a number of theories have been derived. Even Ryden here on FNX believed this whole situation to be a work. Many, however, truly believed Punk to have left the WWE without strings attached and began to speculate an MMA debut or even a return to ROH. Some even had an idea that he may join TNA. Ha, kidding, no one ever thought that.
CM Punk was pulled from a Wizard World event by WWE officials and replaced him with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton. This further backed the theory that Punk was gone for good. We even reported weeks ago how fans starting CM Punk chants at WWE events were being booted – if Punk returns tomorrow we can only conclude that WWE planted stories are still alive and well – and effective.
It makes sense to bring him back now, clearly the card needs work… Batista’s recent heel turn alone nulls the main event of WrestleMania XXX – a hated heel against a hated heel? No thanks, ill opt to leave and beat the traffic out of New Orleans.
It is my new theory that in the next few weeks, Daniel Bryan will be placed into the World Heavyweight Championship title picture and perhaps CM Punk will go ahead with the scheduled match against Triple H… or perhaps he will be somehow pushed into that match in a three-way dance.
Either way, the fans clearly yearn for a CM Punk return. Last week’s Raw proved that, there was rarely a match that didn’t involve a chant of his name. His return is what’s best for business.
