The ‘Star Wars’ fans are so in turmoil that Hasbro now has to give.
After the current blockbuster ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens had brought out a matching Monopoly game from the Hasbro toy company, it stirred severe displeasure. The reason is that one of the main characters, the adventuress Rey, is entirely absent as a playable character. Both the cult figures Luke Skywalker and his father (spoiler alert) Darth Vader can be found but in the game, although they do not even play in the film, as well as current faces of the new film – that is to say – the villain Kylo Ren and fellow hero Finn.
Among the hashtags #WheresRey and #WhereIsRey complained diehard fans loudly about the lack of central protagonist. The manufacturer had initially defended the fact that the game came out back in September and had since not heard anything about the new piece. But now Hasbro tweeted: “We love your passion for Rey and we are glad to announce that we will soon be integrated into the game which will be available later this year.”
Oversight? It’s possible. Damage control? Yes.
Hopefully we see more merch since the fans have brought back the voice of reason.
