September 19th 2016, Monday Night Raw from Memphis, Tennessee saw the return of the Cruiserweight division after a 9 year absence from the WWE. One man in particular who stood out and made WWE fans want to see more is Cedric Alexander. To the WWE audience he is a new and amazing talent to Monday nights. But to us who watch and support independent wrestling, we have been spoiled to the outstanding matches and the amazing talent of Cedric Alexander for years.
From a career dating back to 2009, Cedric Alexander was told he would never make it. But to fans and everyone who supported him, knew he had what it takes to make it to the big time. Trained by the legendary George South, Cedric had great matches consistently in promotions such as Ring Of Honour, PWX, PWG, CZW and many others. Throughout his career Cedric has won numerous titles such as the PWX Heavyweight Championship, CWF Mid-Atlantic Television Championship, EVO Heavyweight Championship and also becoming the WrestleForce Champion twice.
Earlier this year in Drexel, North Carolina, on August 6th. Cedric competed in the NAWA 1st Annual Buddy Shane Memorial Tournament. After defeating 3 men in one night, Cedric was crowned the very first winner of the inaugural event.
When WWE announced the Cruiserweight Classic, a lot of fans wanted to see Cedric Alexander be apart of the tournament. Fans got their wish, Cedric would be apart of the 32 man tournament. Cedric’s first round match would see him defeat Clement Petiot who was representing France.
However Cedric was eliminated in round two of the Cruiserweight Classic after he lost in a phenomenal match with Kota Ibushi who was representing Japan. After the classic match, fans loved the match so much, they stood and applauded after the match. With chants of “Please sign Cedric” saw Cedric come back out and show his respect for the fans. The performance was so good, Triple H came out and gave Alexander his endorsement to much of the delight of the fans. There is no doubt that Cedric Alexander vs Kota Ibushi is a match of the year candidate.
Now part of the WWE and appearing on the Raw roster, things will only get better in the career of Cedric Alexander. Not only is Cedric an amazing wrestler and athlete, but he is a great, loving and caring father to his child AJ. Cedric is one of the nice guys in professional wrestling, always showing respect for his fans. With his amazing talent and willing to go to any length to succeed, there is no doubt we will see and hear a lot more about Cedric Alexander.
I personally would like to wish Cedric all the best in his career, always have enjoyed his work. Have nothing but respect and admiration for him as a man and as a performer. Thank you for everything throughout the years and thank you in advance for the amazing matches and the entertainment you will provide for this wresting fan.
