But the coronavirus has required them to try new and unusual ways of reaching audiences in Japan the rest of the world.

Fashion Week Tokyo launched for 2020 last Monday – 39 brands participated. The March event was cancelled for this usual twice a year event so the brains got together to work out a way… for the show, as they say, must go on.

Some of the brands held shows on a catwalk without an audience. Instead, the events were live online, while the models were captured from various head tilting angles.

“Fashion shows are trying out a variety of ideas to merge real and virtual worlds. We can expect the online presentations to develop innovative forms of expression”.

A majority of the exhibitors presented their items exclusively online in their own presentation methods.

Fashion Week Tokyo ended last Saturday.
