Matildas star Sam Kerr has been named the best international athlete in women’s football at the “ESPY” Awards in the United States.

An ESPY Award (which stands for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award) is an accolade currently presented by the American broadcast television network ABC, to recognise individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performance during the calendar year preceding a given annual ceremony.

It is the third time Kerr has claimed the award, which comes after another amazing season.

Kerr helped Chelsea to its back to back to back WSL title and won the comp’s Golden Boot award for the second year in a row.
