The 6 day celebration of Xi’an cinema featured mostly online extravaganzas of film across the town. Industry leaders from countries such as Germany, Italy and Japan and regions along the ancient Belt and Road attended the festival’s many interactive forums to discuss the future of cinema under the themes like wide spread cooperation, change in investment in a COVID-19 world, and 5G technology.

This year the ceremony also sponsored new talents through creative contests like “Silk Road Fund” which provides financial assistance to 15 of the most outstanding new projects. 418 entries from 17 countries and regions entered the competition.

“I hope the Silk Road International Film Festival would become better and better with time, providing a vibrant communication platform for more filmmakers and film lovers and more opportunities for actors who love the film industry”.

– Zhou Dongyu, Chinese actor and Ambassador of Silk Road International Film Festival 2020

The Silk Road International Film Festival has been held annually since 2014, alternating between Xi’an and Fuzhou, two Chinese cities along the Silk Road. The 8th Silk Road International Film Festival will be held in Fuzhou City, southeast China’s Fujian Province.
